Welcome back to another edition of the Sunday Swing presented by 2nd Swing Golf. As the FedEx Cup playoffs continue to heat up, the 50 remaining players gathered at a new look Caves Valley Golf Club just outside of Baltimore, Maryland. After this week, the top 30 advance to the season finale at East Lake for the Tour Championship.

Scottie Scheffler entered the week as the far and away No. 1 ranked player both in the world and the FedEx Cup standings. He has added several more significant milestones to his resume this year, including a third and fourth major championship, in addition two additional wins. This week, however, was not the typical Scheffler win -- he actually spent most of the tournament trailing Scotland’s Robert MacIntrye.

“Bobby Mac” got out to a sizzling start, and took a commanding four-shot lead thru 54 holes after posting rounds of 62, 64, and 68. MacIntyre appeared to be in total control of the tournamant, until he wasn't. A tough start on Sunday included three bogeys in MacIntyre's first five holes, allowing Scheffler, to quickly play himself into the lead.

As the pair headed to the par-3 17th hole, Scheffler held a one-shot lead. However, the door had opened for MacIntyre when Scheffler pulled his tee shot left. The American was faced with an awkward 80 foot shot from a tricky lie in the rough. However, Scheffler played an impeccable chip shot that rolled some 65 feet, down the slope of the green and into the cup for an unlikely birdie. What looked like a likely one-shot swing in favor of MacIntyre instead became a one-shot swing in favor of Scheffler.

With his lead back to two shots, Scottie made an easy par at the 18th hole and capped off an incredible comeback over the Scotsman. The victory is now Scheffler’s fifth on the season, and his lead in the FedEx Cup grew even more with just the Tour Championship remaining in which Scheffler will look to go back to back.

Let's take a look back at the clubs in Scheffler's bag:

Driver: TaylorMade Qi10

Shaft: Fujikura Ventus Black 7 X

Scheffler continues to play with the TaylorMade Qi10 core model. He plays an 8 degree head and has it adjusted up to 8.25 degrees, and plays with a 45” Fujikura Ventus Black 7X shaft in it for a D4 Swing Weight. A major factor in Scheffler's dominance over the last several years has been his prowess off the tee, and that was once again the case this week at the BMW Championship. He led the field in strokes gained off the tee and finished second in driving distance and third in driving accuracy. It doesn't get much better than that!

3-Wood: TaylorMade Qi10

Shaft: Fujikura Ventus Black 8 X

Like his driver, Scheffler games the TaylorMade Qi10 core model for his 3-wood. He plays a 15 degree head at 14.25 degrees. He plays with a 42 5/16” Fujikura Ventus Black 8X shaft in it. He has the shaft tipped 1.5” and a D3 swing weight. Scheffler often opts to use this club often down the stretch on Sunday, giving him a bit more of a controlled flight off the tee onto trickier tee shots.

Irons: Srixon ZU85 (3,4), TaylorMade P7TW (5-PW)

Shafts: Nippon N.S. Pro Modus 3 Hybrid Prototype 10 X (3), True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100

Moving to Scheffler’s irons which haven’t changed for quite some time. He combos a pair of Srixon ZU85 utility irons with his TaylorMade P7TWs. Much like his off-the-tee game, Scheffler's stellar approach play is a huge reason he is routinely in contention. This week, Scheffler finished with the fifth-most strokes gained on approach shots and was the best in the field in greens in regulation.

Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design SM8 (50-12F, 56-14F), Vokey Design Wedgeworks (60-T)

Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400

Perhaps the most underrated part of Scheffler's game is his short game, particularly with the wedges. His setup includes a couple of older Vokey wedge models with an SM8 50-degree and 56-degree wedge. Those are paired with a Vokey WedgeWorks 60-degree that features a sole grind unique to Scheffler's preferences. The short game touch showed out in dramatic fashion on Sunday. After a pulled tee shot on the difficult par-3 17th hole, Scheffler hit an impeccable chip shot from almost 30 yards that dropped into the hole for an unlikely birdie and essentially sealed the victory.

Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour X

Grip: Golf Pride Pro

It's been almost two full seasons since Scheffler switched full time from a blade to his TaylorMade Spider Tour X, and it has certainly paid off. His Spider Tour X is 35.5” long, has 3 degrees of loft, and a lie angle of 72 degrees. He goes with a TaylorMade L-Neck hosel, a Surlyn Pure Roll Insert and then True Path with Full Line site line for his setup. It wasn't a spectacular week for Scheffler on the greens (finished 17th in the field), but nonetheless, any time Scheffler is in the positive strokes gained with the putter, he's more than likely in contention due to his elite tee-to-green game.
